San Diego's Switchfoot is a quiet storm; it possesses not an ounce of rock-star bombast, but this band is everywhere. The music comes on with the heavy for the rockers and the pop hooks for the kids. I've seen this group about four times, and in each instance the parents and chaperones sipping Diet Cokes in the back of the venue seemed to dig the band as much as the kids howling down front. Lyrically Switchfoot still exhibits a little reflection and self-discovery with a decidedly Christian slant. The band doesn't beat you over the head with it, though. I mean, they're good boys and all, but they know how to rock.
